Sitting the exam

  • Find & Register: Locate an approved exam centre for private candidates and register with them.

  • Prepare: Ensure your statement of entry is correct and bring valid ID to each exam.

  • Post-Exam: We assist with special considerations, result collection, and review or appeal requests.

Entry Requirements

Am I eligible for this programme?

The typical age at which people choose to complete the IGCES is 14 to 16, but anyone over the age of 14 can enrol on this course. You also do not need any previous qualifications to be eligible for this course.

Career Progression

  • Upon completion of this course, students will have the foundations and fundamental knowledge needed to study A levels or a Level 3 qualification with BCM Academy.

  • Option A: 19th Century – Development of modern nation-states (1848–1914)

  • Option B: 20th Century – International relations since 1919

  • All students also complete at least one Depth Study, focused on specific historical events or themes.

  • Content is organised around:

  • Key questions – major historical issues

  • Focus points – guide understanding of each question

  • Specified content – outlines what to study
